Radiation Only Treatment

Hi LauzC my understanding of the treatment is that the radiotherapy is the most important part. I had a reduced dose of chemo as I had low dpd levels. I've also seen people on here who had to stop chemo  all together for one reason or another. I am cancer free. Sending hugs. X

I agree with Bungle - the radiotherapy and Mitomycin fo the heavy lifting. I am in the UK so tjey switched me to Raltitrexed - it isn't FDA approved unfortunately but really is just the icing on the cancer killing cake!!! Hope all goes well, Willow x

I am pleased that some of our lovely members have already given you some reassurance about the chemo; it is always alarming when the treatment is halted due to a side effect and it is quite common; I had systemic chemo reduced by 25% as my liver couldn't handle the full dose but the oncologist was unperturbed.

And a warm welcome to the forum although I am sorry that you have to be here at all.  But you are amongst people who really do know what you are going through and are always on hand to offer support and advice and tips.

I really hope that the rest of your treatment goes without a hitch.

Welcome to the forum ..and so sorry you have had a reaction to the chemo.

I managed both..but my oncologist did say at the start that the radiotherapy was the important bit..and if at any stage the chemo did not agree they would stop..

Good luck with your journey..its an intense one.. but very high success rate..

Hi, I had mytomycin in and 5FU over the 5.5 weeks along with daily radiotherapy. Unfortunately I ended up having surgery as the cancer was still there. Hope you get on ok.

Automatic, it is THE alternative. Tough on the liver but they monitored me. It is pricier but Professor Cunningham rexommended and monitored me. It is THE standard if you have a reaction to Capecitabine xxx you can google it too xxx
