Possible recurrence three years on

Hi all,

I have posted a few times about my experience of APR surgery, which I had with no chemo/radiotherapy beforehand as I have Crohn’s and my surgeon believed I had a better chance of getting rid of my cancer with surgery first.

It has seemed to be successful so far but I have unfortunately had a ‘suspicious Inguinal node’ show up on my three year scan. It didn’t show on the MRI but did on my CT and I can feel a lump so there is definitely something there.

To be honest I am devastated - I didn’t see this coming at all and feel like I have gone back in time to when I first was diagnosed, planning my own funeral and imagining my small kids having to grow up without me. I am nearly 36 and they are 8 and 5.

I am due to have a biopsy on 23rd September which I remember was really painful last time but I want to know what is going on so want to just get it out of the way. I am dreading treatment if I need it but at least I already have a stoma so will not struggle with bowel stuff! I am worried about medical menopause and also gynae issues.

I am not really sure what I wanted from this post - I have only told my husband about what is happening as telling others makes it feels more real. I suppose it feels good to write down how I am feeling, normally I am a positive person but this feels very unfair and such a step backwards.

If anyone has advice I would appreciate it!
