Hi all
Had my biopsy for the white patch down below externally last Friday at Leicester General Hospital recovering quite well expect very sore where I’ve had stitches .My CT scan was ok not had MRI result and it will be two weeks +before I get results .Dont know if anybody else has problems with finger and toe nails caused by chemo I’ve been to a podiatrist today and have had to have both toe nails taken right back as they are completely damaged .My finger nails also not good but using cuticle oil daily .Apparently you can get cream for your hands/feet before chemo from NhS but it is so expensive they don’t tell you about it .
Sending love to all Babymole
Hello Babymole
I hope you heal quickly and well, stitches can pull and cause more pain unfortunately. I will keep everything crossed that your MRI is clear too.
I had side effects but my nails weren't affected too much, and certainly not as badly as yours. I didn't know about the cream either, it's a pity you weren't offered this. I think even if they told you there was a cream that would help but it's not widely available on the NHS you could have made an informed decision whether to buy it or not.
Please let us know how your MRI goes.
Irene xx
Hi Babymole ,
I’m pleased to hear you’ve had your biopsy done & I completely sympathise with you with the stitches & discomfort as I had a local resection of my anal cancer prior to treatment & it really was sore!
Have they told you how long you should expect to have to wait for your biopsy results?
It’s great to hear your CT results were good, I’ve got everything crossed that your MRI results come back clear too.
I don’t have any experience with the problems you’re having with your nails but it’s awful if there’s a cream that can help but the cost stops the NHS from providing it! I would like to say I’m surprised but unfortunately I’m not! I hope you manage to save your finger nails.
Nicola
Apparently they don’t tell you because of the cost I Definately would have asked if I had known about it my podiatrist told me yesterday xx
