Tailbone discomfort

Good day ,

has anybody had something show in tailbone/sacrum before the primary tumour is found or shows itself in the anus? I am not yet diagnosed. I experience slight rectal spotting on toilet paper, have thinner/flatter stools no blood visible in feces. I have some discomfort in tailbone. I have had history of itchy anus in past . I’ve had a clear colonoscopy where they used retroflection to look back at the rectum. And I’ve had a couple digital rectal exams. The spotting and tailbone pain continues and irregular bowel movements. Pain in tailbone/sacrum the worst when lying on back or I need to go poop.

  • Hi  I don't recall having anything in my tailbone. I did have an itchy bum and blood on toilet paper for a good few years before diagnosis but put it down to aggressive wiping, with hindsight it obviously wasn't. If you haven't been to the doctors about it I would go and ask for a scan. Sending hugs. Xx

  • Hello Alex89

In my case no - nothing showed in the tailbone/sacrum.  I did have skinny poos (no blood) though, and that was what led me to the doctor in the first place and a then had a CT colonography  which found the tumour.

Have you had a fall?  It doesn't necessarily have to have been recent but landing on the coccyx can damage the tailbone and lead to pain immediately or some time later.

I hope you get to the root of your pain, it must be frustrating and worrying to have this ongoing.

Please let us know how you get on.

    Irene xx

  •  No fall whatsoever but the tailbone pain continues the poop continues and the spotting continues. I’ve read a case study about cancers unidentified primary where sacrum tumour found first followed by anal lesion 2 years later. Also wondering how many colonoscopies miss anal tumors . He did do a refractionary viewing where the camera is turned back at thecrectum and didn’t show tumor so I thought I was fine until reading about other case studies. Also feel like a full sensation and some groin sensation when ejaculating.

  • I am not a medical expert but perhaps the next step would be a CT scan which might show more of what is going on.  What does your doctor say? x
