Hi all, as promised my update.
Sadly it wasn't a full response to treatment. My tumour and lymph where quite large and my oncologist said she didn't expect a full response at the first scan but of course I am bitterly disappointed.
My lymph node has had a 70% reduction in size and my tumour and 55% reduction so the treatment is working but not completely got rid of them.
Scan again in 3 months and hope and pray it gets rid of the rest.
Does anyone else have experience like this at the first scan.

Hi Jo,
I'm sorry to hear the scan results weren't what you hoped for. Hopefully, the six month results will give you the all clear.
I'm still in the immediate post-treatment so don't have experience to share, but please know that I'm rooting for you. I've read on the forum that sometimes it takes six months for full response. Xx
Hello Jo,
Many of us here - and hopefully someone will share their story - are actually told that the six month scan is more important because the treatment carries on working, and at three months it may not have finished. Your oncologist was obviously expecting this result, so please try not to put too much on the fact that you are not completely clear yet; the treatment is having the desired effect on your tumour, so you are well on the way.
Focus on resting, eating what you can and just allowing your body to keep healing. xxx
Thank you Mrs Vanilla,
Other than having this result I feel really good so let's hope it's still working and I will be clear at next scan.
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
Have a super weekend

Thank you so much for your kind words.
Take care of yourself and keep on your recovery road being kind to yourself and taking things easy.

Hi Edjo ,
Just wanted to say how sorry I am that you didn’t receive the news you’d hoped for.
Try & take comfort in the fact that the radiotherapy does keep doing its thing for some time following that last session so both your tumour & lymph node will still be feeling it full force.
It’s good that you’ve said in one of your replies here that you’re feeling so well. I will have everything crossed that your next scans bring you better news.
Nicola
Hi Edjo,
I’m so very sorry that you didn’t get the news you were hoping for.
Like everyone else here I am absolutely rooting for you to have a better outcome on the 6 month scan as the treatment will still be working hard.
So many people say that that’s the important one.
Sending hugs xx
Hi Jo don't give up mine didn't all go and I had a lymph node and some of the cancer left.I then had chemotherapy which reduced them .I have just had iAPR surgery which hopefully has taken away what was left it's a long journey but some of us have it longer and have to have more treatments but remember there are more treatments available and don't give up hope. There are others on this site who have also had to endure more treatments and surgery .sending you hugs and lots of support and if you have any more questions just ask
Take Care Wendy xx
.
I
Thank you so much Wendy.
It's so hard to be told it's not all gone at 3 months and then the wait for another 3 months to see if it's worked but obviously the worry that if it hasn't then APR surgery is looming.
I'm glad you're doing well
Xxxx
