Hi All, I have finished my treatment on the 1st Jan. 2 rounds of chemo via a pump and 5.5 weeks of radiotherapy. Six days post treatment and I am still getting alot of discharge from my front end. This is golden in colour and jelly like at times. How long does this last?? Would love to know how much longer of this is left.
Hi Bumpintheroad,
Firstly well done in completing your treatment. Such a massive milestone.
The first few weeks post treatment are definitely quite challenging and I had a similar experience. I spoke to the MacMillan nurse about it and she said that the radiotherapy is continuing to work and what is happening on the outside is also happening on the inside and that this was causing the discharge. Didn’t really recommend anything but assured me that it would pass.
For me this particular symptom lasted just over 2 weeks. I really hope it improves for you sooner!
As others on the forum have said the weeks post treatment are a strange time as we are no longer seeing anyone from the team but the side effects peak and it can feel a little bit like abandonment!
I would suggest getting in touch with your MacMillan nurse just to check it out.
Very much hoping that things will soon feel better for you on your recovery path.
Rest up and wishing you well,
xx
Hi Bumpintheroad
Well done on getting through treatment. Not quite the same but I had a mucous avalanche from my bottom which started the Saturday prior to the last 3 days of treatment, I can't remember exactly but it was probably about 1.5 weeks post that it stopped. Sending hugs. Xx
I understood some of the discharge is from the tumour being broken down too.
Hello Bumpintheroad
I am sure you must be so relieved that it is all over but the symptoms do continue for some time after treatment finishes. I am right in thinking when you refer to your front end you are talking about the uretha? If so, I have this as well, but nearly three years down the line it is just an tiny amount but enough for me to regularly wear a panty liner. It definitely isn't urine, I know that sort of leak!
When you think about the area receiving radiotherapy there are changes in the whole region, most dissipate with time but occasionally, some people (me) are left with some permanent changes. It doesn't bother me at all, and isn't offensive in anyway. And it would be worth mentioning it at your next check-up for reassurance.
And 2025 is going to be a new beginning for you - you should start to feel better very soon.
Big hug
Irene xx
