Hi everyone,
My meeting on the 24th went well. The doctor and specialist nurse were so kind. He answered all my questions of which I had lots. He was honest, straight talking but sympathetic. My options were limited due to the cancer type but the prognosis is good.
I have to have more biopsies on Mon under general anesthetic then on Thu I go for my planning CT scan plus a MRI. My treatment will then begin two weeks after this appointment and I will be having 5 1/2 weeks of intense radiotherapy ( Mon to Fri) and taking oral chemotherapy treatment in capsule form twice a day on treatment days.
Although he said my hair won't fall out, it will become thinner! I must say my hair is quite thin to start with so there's still a chance I might need a wig but I'm fine with whatever happens. The only thing out of the numerous side effects that bothers me the most is feeling and/or being sick, silly I know but true!!
I'm feeling very optimistic because truth be known as long as it won't kill me (which it won't) there's light at the end of the tunnel and that's what I'll focus on.
Christmas will be a non starter but as my son's pointed out it's just one Christmas out of a life time of Christmas' and you know what, there so right.

Hi Carole!
im glad your appointment went well. I’ve just completed week 1 of the same treatment. So far no side effects but I know that all that will come later. I feel hopeful that I will get through this and look back and be grateful. I hope all goes well for you and everyone on this forum. It’s a great place to share knowledge and get vital support from each other.
Best Wishes
Happyflower
Hi Carole I've just finished week 4 of the same treatment although my chemo was intravenous but I think that's just different hospitals. Your medical team will be able to give you anti sickness tablets if you feel sick so don't worry to much about that. Hope it all goes well for you. Xx
Thanks Bungle! I know we are all different but when did your side effects kick in- if any yet? Xx
Also well done for completing week 4- wish I was there- just seem to be wishing my life away lately- too keen to look back on this most difficult time of my life x
Hi I felt sick from the chemo in week 1 but it was bearable. My skin has been sore but only started bothering me this week its uncomfortable, even walking as im a but swollen. Early on I had bad wind but just cut green veg from diet and that sorted it. Having a poo seems to take ages and feel like i want to go all the time but they explained its my brain tricking me. Having said all that it hasn't been as bad as I expected yet. 8 more to go. Xx
Thank you. I know what you mean. I can't wait to get back to weight lifting, I even want to go back to work but I'm sure that will change as soon as I'm back. Had complimentary reflexology this week which was nice. Xx
Thanks Bungle- seems you are doing really well. I’m very impressed with the desire to go back to weight lifting too!! You are obviously a very fit person. Hope I can cope with all this as well as you xx
Gyms my happy place. Forgot to say I started using water wipes instead of toilet roll week 3. You will cope. Xx
Thank you Happyflower for your kind words,
Congratulations on completing your first week of treatment, it won't be long before that's me too! Sharing this important time in my life with you all means so much and I privileged to share all your experiences too.
Thank you to everyone here for your kindness and strength.
