Hi has anyone any experience of having all of these three together? This is what I’ve got to have everyday for 5 days then 5 and half weeks of radiotherapy then repeat week one! Feel a bit sick at the thought to be honest x
I had the blip of a dodgy scan at 6 months but after another EUA, I’m all good. On the anniversary of my last day of treatment, a huge thanks to you, and this group of lovely people.
For stage 4 anal cancer with bone mets I had all three, though not in the way you describe. First a month of radiotherapy every day, then a month break before starting the chemo at three-week intervals for six infusions of 5-FU with Mitomycin injected in the cannula alternate infusions.
As much as I wanted to keep a journal, I didn't have the time as I was in the final year of a degree course and had a dissertation to write. In retrospect I believe this was a good thing, as there are more important things in your life to be concentrating on rather than cancer. (Just think about all the broadcasters you know who documented their cancer/treatments etc and then died). I was first diagnosed in 1986 (cancer appeared a year earlier), had brachytherapy, but the cancer recurred and I had a colostomy in 1987. The the disease metastasised in 1990 and the treatment mentioned above took me through to the summer of 1991. I graduated a month later.

Wos, Patsyann, what an accomplishment! When I think of trying to write a dissertation in the middle of cancer treatment my brain melts and gets foggy at the very notion.
