Hi, just been confirmed today 10/01/2022 by the hospital that I have Squamous CellCancer in my Anus,

is this the normal cancer found there? What other types could be found?

is anyone else had the treatment for this,

what does the treatment involve,

and how are you doing.

Thank you Louise xxx

  • That’s good and yes, I remember the wait to start treatment seemed rather long! Have you got a start date? X

  • Thank you so much for this list. I am on the home stretch of treatments. Second dose of chemo IV continuous drip ends this Friday. Then my radiation ends Jan 25. It's been a bit of a shock since my diagnosis. I am so glad I found this group.

  • Hi lovely to hear from you, I’m still bleeding, I had my PET/CT today, was scary as usual.

i was tell8ng* my husband, & sister that I passed this Hugh neon light sign today on my way to the hospital”  displayed outside the modern art gallery here in Edinburgh and it said in Hugh writing “ Everything’sRofloing to be All Right” I though I will take that as an omen. • I’d definitely be taking that one as a message from the universe.

  • Thanks so much! I am really glad I found this place. With Covid I haven't really checked out the resource department at the hospital for any of the things they have been offering such as massage etc. My family has been amazing support. I'm a nurse so it's really difficult for me being on the other side. And I'm a hospice nurse so I think that was difficult for me too. One of the nurses in radiation department had to remind to get to forget everything I know That's been a little difficult.  Any suggestion for spasms in my abdomen? It started about 3 days ago. The doctor orders Bentyl ( an antispasm drug). Not sure if it's helping.I will keep you all in my daily thoughts.

  • Hi again ,

It’s great to hear you have lots of family support & yes it’s a shame that it’s been so difficult accessing the extra resources usually on offer at your hospital. I can also imagine it’s been very difficult to shelve your knowledge as a nurse!

I haven’t had personal experience of abdominal spasms, are they related to bowel movements? Buscopan sounds very similar to what your Dr has already prescribed, as I understand it relaxes & slows everything down, I’m usually given IV buscopan prior to MRI scans for this reason so that the scan images are clearer. I hope you get some relief soon & all the very best of luck for your last week of treatment.

  • Yes you do that.... Its all positive thoughts

  • Hi prettypinkroses, I'm about to start my radiation/chemo next Monday. The thought of the side effects are stressing me no end, so thank you for putting all these tips on here. Just wished I'd joined sooner but as you know your brain functioning just disappears and I just couldn't bring myself to call Macmillan or anything like that. But thank you so much!

  • Hi Cynnie , just had my PET/CT yesterday, am desperate to start my treatment, just want it done NOW you take care and keep in touch on how you are doing, I’m going to update on my journey when the treatment starts. Love Louise xxxx
