Hi all, has anyone got some advice on coping with a sticking inner labia? This has been oozing light green pus which is coming from the anus too and when I pull them apart it tears the skin and bleeds. I did ask my oncologist if I have to keep doing this and she said yes! I was given flaminal hydro but it is quite thick and acts a bit like glue! I was given oromorph Thursday but hesitate in taking it as I don’t want to get constipation. Every time I visit the bathroom I have a shower there and even with the water mildly warm stings. The onc did take a swab but have not heard back about that.
Hi Jaycee, first of all the green pus like stuff is a normal part of the healing process , when mine first appeared I was beside myself thinking it must be an infection however both my Radiotherapy team and nurses told me it's normal but to expect a lot more. I also had the problem with my girly bits and pain having a wee, buy yourself a seltzer bath from Amazon, it's like a kiddies trainer potty that you fill with cool water and wee in it, it helps with the pain of passing urine but also stops the labia sticking together. Don't use toilet paper buy water wipes that are more or less like child wipes but without any of the add ons. Try to go commando (no knickers) as much as possible. I just wore T shirt nighties and changed as per needed because of the pus stuff which I nicknamed ectoplasm! It is all very daunting I know but it does get better. I'm 10 weeks post treatment and my bits are back to normal, my weeing is pain free and the pus stuff stopped weeks ago. Hope this helps xxx Marie
I was in agony even before treatment as my ac was on the nerves and when the nurse gave me Oromorph it was a few weeks before I actually took it. It helped me with the pain but it was a Godsend for helping me sleep. Also I don't know if you are taking anti sickness medication as that too can cause constipation! Laxido is something that everyone needs different amounts of so if you find you're still constipated try adding a sachet at a time or if you get the diarrhoea take it down a sachet at a time. I've not long been where you are now so if I can help at all just ask xxx Marie
Hi Marie, I am just going to take the oromorph. I have laxatives at the ready as with Imodium. I suspect I am also experiencing radiation cystitis as I am feeling the urge to go every hour! Then I have to soak then reapply the cream. I should be grateful I only have three sessions to go but dread feeling worse, but at least I haven’t got the stress of travelling to hospital every day. They are always late giving the treatment but they are apologetic about that.
Brilliant, I have to be honest... the treatment keeps on working and the side effects do get worse. You will be advised to take the Oromorph along with paracetamol and ibuprofen..take them and don't be a martyr you will need them. There will be skin problems, during Radiotherapy you will have flamojel (hope I've spelt it correctly off hand) after treatment it's Flamazine
. It's a blinking nightmare I know but keep thinking to yourself.. Marie was where I am now and she got through it! Not putting biggies on myself but I found it easier to focus on one person that had reached the other side.. mine was 1in1500. Anyway, you're not alone, we've been in the same place you are and we're here when you need us. Keep in touch and even if you just need to vent xxx Marie
Hi Jaycee. I do empathise with you. I too had labia skin was was fusing together about week 2/3 post treatment. I contacted my specialist nurse who arranged for a prescrpition of Cavillion, a barrier cream, it is different to other barrier creams as it acted like silicone in that it allowed the skin surfaces to glide together. This stopped the vicious circle of sking fusing and then having to seperate it causing bleeding. I hope that you can get sorted out and more comfortable soon. Bev
Thank you Bev. I have been to the hospital today and they have prescribed flamazine. I have just applied it and boy does it sting! If it carries on I will have to wash it off and maybe ask them about cavilion cream. I am wondering if the flamazine is supposed to sting? I’ve had it on for about fifteen minutes and it still stings. Oh dear!
