Stop start chemo for the over 75s

At 77 I have had six rounds of chemo, azacitidine &venetoclax.
each time my neutrophils have been low, so I then use
daily Filgrastim daily injections.I think now might be the
time to stop as I’ve no way of knowing what I might be
gaining, just a few more weeks spending a large
por of every week at hospital.
has anyone else decided to stop treatment, and
just accept blood transfusion for a short time?

Hi Sakchi and sorry to hear about the challenges you are having.

i have not been in this position (different blood cancer and treatment journey) but I do understand how you need to balance quality of life against suffering life.

Hi Sakchi...my husband was 77 and decided against aggressive chemo as he felt the pain wasn't worth the gain. It was his personal choice after weighing up the pros and cons. Everyone is different so give yourself time to decide

I think your husband was very brave, and yes weighing up the pros and cons makes sense
