it’s hard to believe my hubby of 45 years is at end stage lung cancer. It’s so hard watching him go from a fit man doing his allotment to being in bed most of the time. Every day I pray for a miracle for such a good kind man.
Hi Ian-j. Sorry about your wife. So young too. I also feel alone although our kids are great. It’s the medical side that not so supportive. Whether it’s bcos of Covid who knows we’ve never been through this nightmare before. McMillan hadn’t been out to see my hubby for 4weeks even though I phoned them several times about his condition. Said They weren’t coming out bcos of covid. But the Carers are and I said this to them. Neither the district nurses Then last week they both turned up on the same day. You need to keep phoning them and stressing your fears. You’re doing a grand job being with your wife in her time of need . You will feel like you do because you’re grieving . Pick up that phone and tell them how you feel. Stay strong and your children.
Hi Wacky.thanx doing a great job. McMillan told me if I wanted Carers in img hubby would have to have a hospital bed. Which we have now also Carers coming in x4day. They are so lovely to him. They come all PPE too. I do miss being next to him at night. But the kids take turns and we have a night Carer x2a week. The kids are concerned about me not getting enough sleep to look after him in the day. It’s so hard it’s all happened within a number of weeks. Life will never be the same.
Yes I agree the nhs and Macmillan have been terrible. Took me 2 hours to get through to doctors and then her doctor wasn’t available for a week , can’t get hold of Macmillan nurse we usually deal with. Just get phone messages and passed around . It sounds terrible to condemn Nhs when everyone else is praising them. But the truth is they seem to be in chaos because of Corona virus. So many people will die of non corana related illnesses because of the chaotic approach taken by the government and managers at nhs . This isn’t condemning doctors and nurses by the way just the people running things
