Hi my wife recently had 20 sessions of radiotherapy to her left lung and upper middle chest lymph nodes. The treatment finished 4 weeks ago today and she is still finding the ide effects very slow to recede. One problem is the pain from her windpipe and throat (like a red hot poker) when eating even soft food like mash, mashed veg, soup and porridge. She is 78 years old and was told the symptoms would recede after 2 weeks.
Also as she is only eating a limited amount of food the dietician said to supplement the food with up to 4 fortisips a day, this is all well and good but she is a type 2 diabetic and her blood sugars spike alarmingly whenever she has one of these drinks. Her GP has increased the metformin to 3 a day to try and stabilise the levels but it is still , any advice would be greatly appreciated
