Would appreciate top tips to prepare myself more for the side effects as opposed to the therapy itself.

  • Honestly...you'll do it a day at a time. The alternative is a painful bloody death. Any pain can be dealt with. We are all offered morphine and opioid patches if needed. Yes, they make you sleepy but that's no great loss. I was looking to see if there was a Maggie's near you but our area seems to be poorly served so do talk to Chris when you can.

Make sure you have lots of soft food in stock to keep you going but do warn your team that you expect a nasogastric tube when it gets tougher. Do not take no for an answer. It's your right. Get your husband on the case right now.

BUT don't panic. I was refused a PEG but given an NG when it was needed.
