I’m about to start radiotherapy for any residual breast cancer. Feeling anxious: so tired from the rest of the treatment. Any advice on side and long term effects would be very welcome.
Hi Fozia
I had 45 zaps of radiotherapy but my cancer and treatment journey is very different so it’s not comparing Apples with Apples.
Can I suggest you join and post in our dedicated……..
…….. support group. This group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
Hello
Wishing you lots of best wishes, whilst having your radiotherapy.
I had my CT SIM yrsterday, but noted that yu already feel tired. I am in my "almost eighties" and i am so so tired, before the radiotherapy has even begun.
I mentioned this to the oncologist and he said it was my age, but i am active and never felt as tired, until i was diagnosed, maybe a little before that. I am ok during the morning, but as the day goes on, i feel like i have lead weights on my eyes. The thing is, also i am up every two hours, through the night, needing the bathroom, but that has been the case for many years. I wondered if you or anyone else has experienced this.
Hi , I wish I had more information on radiotherapy before I jaw done mine , I was diagnosed with breast cancer In May 2019, I was taught that I need a mastectomy and I was offered reconstruction straight away. I haven’t been given an option to have a flower reconstruction or anything except my surgeon at the time just said to me, I had this beautiful implant. I can just put it in for you and it will match your second breast perfectly and you will have no problems whatsoever and in about 10 years time, we can just exchange it for the new one.
The first problem I faced in June 2019 when my surgeon missed the largest tumor in my breast. By the way, I had three tumors in one breast two in ducks milk, and I don’t want just in the fold of the breast underneath of the breast and that was a very large tumor around five centimetric in diameter and my surgeon managed to perform mastectomy and missed the tumor at add a lot of complications into my third treatment because in three weeks time after mastectomy has been performed, they call me back and said that large tumor is still missing mince. It’s still inside my body and they need to do another operation so they done another operation and then I’ve developed Blood clot ( I’m I’m type one diabetic on top of that and Doctor forgot to sell the special tube after the app where the liquids could be drain). After that, I had another six operations because it’s keep going if it’s keep going wrong and wrong.
Unfortunately what happen Next is later in 2020 I had recurrence and only then they told me that I need a radiation treatment
no one told me that before
I even haven’t been given Zoladex injections. Then, despite my cancer was hormonal positive and I needed at least Zoladex injections.
sadly after three years, my implant got deformed and I have been advised to do flop. Tommy reconstruction for my breast and has been put in the queue of two years in two years time in 2024 has been. I have been diagnosed out of blue with metastatic breast, cancer all this time I was waiting for the flat operation. It’s never happened and it never will take a place because now I’m in a position where I cannot possibly have it done because of the my new treatment will not allow my body to heal properly after that such a complicated operation. My advice will be if you consider considering reconstruction. I would strongly advise you do flop Tommy reconstruction first and then go for raise therapy because otherwise it’s not gonna work right for you. If you have the reconstruction with implant, the implant will be cooked literally cooked after the radiotherapy and it will be hardened and it will be damaged and it will be deformed within no time and then all you will have is a pains and pain and pain that seems never gonna stop and now I’m considering maybe I should go flat because in the last five years I’ve been leaving with pains . i’m sorry if this is long explanation and not irrelevant and apologies for any mistakes I made with my spellings I just very tired . I hope it helps.
Hi, thank you for your kind words and sharing. No sorry I haven’t experienced this other than during Chemo when I had severe fatigue. Although it’s improved, I still feel tired and I’m in my mid 50s - not sure if it’s age related.
