Burn pain due to high radiation in abdominal CT

About a week ago I've had an Abdomen pelvis ct scan, I was shocked after I found out what was the level of radiation I received there -
DLP (mGy*cm) 2300
CTDlvol (mGy) 70
800 scan images
Since then I've been suffering from internal burning pain throughout my entire abdominal stomach. I wanted to ask what can be done, all the doctors I spoke to said they don't understand a thing about radiation damages and I'm very afraid due to future exposure to abdominal cancer, just because of this ct scan

  • Hi Miligrey

I am sorry to hear that you are suffering with internal burning pain after your abdominal and pelvic ct scan.

I have had pelvic radiotherapy and also CT scans and did not get any pain after. I did however have an allergic reaction to the contrast used. I do understand your concern about future cancer as that was one thing that was mentioned at my radiotherapy consents appointment.

Has the pain started to settle? Stay the same or get worse? My feeling would be that this needs checking out. Why not give NHS 111 a call and ask for some advice.

Alternatively you could give the Macmillan Support Line a call and get some advice on there. They are there from 8am-8pm daily.
