Is 6 weeks of weekday radiotherapy normal? Has any one else had this much? And if so under what circumstances? Does it mean a lot of cancer is left after surgery?
Hi Ma78 it all depends on the cancer type but weeks of radiotherapy can be normal…… I had a total of 45 days over a year and half for my type of cancer….. but do ask this question in the cancer specific groups……. look through THIS LIST where you will find all our dedicated cancer support groups listed.
Hi Ma78
As Mike has explained, it depends on the type of cancer. I had 32 sessions, so just over 6 weeks. Not everyone has surgery before radiotherapy-I didn’t for example, so the amount of radio I had was normal for my situation.

Hi Ma78, My cancer was in my left tonsil and left lymph node with extracapsular spread. I have been booked for 30 RT sessions and 5 CT sessions (5 hours long.) I think I was told, it's to 'mop up' any strays.
I have one more week left to go, I finish on the 20th December.
Hope that this helps.
Hugs, Hazel x
