I guess this is one of those nicer questions to ask. I'm getting married in Thailand in February. Any advice on holiday insurance without shelling out the £1500 often quoted. I had AML diagnosed Oct 24 and a sibling doctor transplant in April 25. To say I responded well (after the first 2 horrific months at home) is an understatement. I was back at work in less than 3 months and apart from sensitive skin I have had no health problems at all.
Some of the recommended ones wouldn't even quote.
Hi Little-Else
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and having had cancer twice, I know how tricky getting travel insurance can be.
The best place to look for recommendations is over in the travel insurance group. Once you've joined have a look through the thread there called Members recommended travel insurance which you'll find on the first page. They are full of recommendations from other cancer patients who have got reasonably priced travel insurance.
I personally have used payingtoomuch.com and goodtogoinsurance.com in the past.
Hello Little-Else
I have metastatic breast cancer and have used an annual policy from Insurancewith for a number of years. It’s been very affordable but it doesn’t give great cancellation cover. I tend to book up close to the time of travel when I have more certainty as what I am really paying for is medical cover. My colleague Latchbrook’s suggestion if our Travel insurance forum for cancer patients will provide lots of member input.

I am a Macmillan volunteer.
I have metastatic Triple Negative Breast Cancer, in remission
Hi again Little-Else and congratulations on your up coming wedding.
I am replying based on my first hand experience…. you may remember that I have had 2 Allograft (donor) Stem Cell Transplants (June 2014 then Oct 2015)….. so I know that due to the uniqueness and at times uncertainty surrounding an Allo SCT……. getting affordable travel insurance is very challenging.
I personally found that I had to be 2 years out from SCT and not on any related treatments before I could get any affordable price…… and that was with my consultant saying I was clear to fly a good 12months before…
I had no real issues post my second Allo SCT….. but at about 11months post SCT I had a number of infections (Chest Infections, Lung Fungal Infections, the RSV Virus, Pneumonia x2 and Neutropenic Sepsis x2) over the following year……. even if your counts are doing well your immune system is still going to be fragile so you do need to be careful
I see that my friendslatchbrook and Coddfish have highlighted our Travel Insurance group…
I do hope you can find affordable cover.
Thank you for your kindness and taking the time to reply all, much appreciated.
Hello Little-Else ,
The travel insurance group is indeed a good place to research travel insurance.
Personally, I've had lung cancer (in remission for several years now) and presently have incurable prostate cancer. I've used Albert & Eddie, a comparison site, and obtained cover at a reasonable price with Holidaysafe through them.
They are part of a group which also owns Insurancewith (mentioned by Coddfish ) and Lighthouse (which Macmillan has an arrangement with).
Details can be found on the travel insurance group but I've added links below.

I hope you can find suitable cover.
