I was diagnosed with dlbcl in Feb I was told to notify the dvla as I’m a class 2 hgv driver I’ve been told I may not get my entitlement back depending on what the dvla deem when they review paperwork (4 weeks and counting still no answer), but I was also told I could loose my car license too.
I loved my job and I just feel like I’ve lost a massive part of me as i scrimped and saved and had to wait with Covid etc to do my license as it’s something I’d always wanted to do, has anyone else had this happen?

I don’t have DLBCL but I have been in my journey with 2 rare types of T-Cell NHL for coming up to 26 years.
As for this challenging subject you are unfortunately required to notify DVLA of your cancer diagnosis if you are an HGV driver and they will make a judgement as to your type of cancer and treatment protocols……. and to how long before you get back driving.
But it may not be necessary with regards to driving a car….. these are totally different requirements.
I have been on my Lymphoma journey for coming up to 26 years having had multiple treatments with my main treatment between Oct 2013 to Oct 2015 where I had over 750hrs of chemo, 45 Radiotherapy Sessions and 2 Allogenic (donor) Stem Cell Transplants…… driving our car was often discussed in my clinic appointments but at no point did my consultant tell me to inform DVLA.
There were times where my consultant said that I should not drive for periods especially during periods of Fatigue, Peripheral Neuropathy and times where I had blurred vision….. all down to the effects if treatments.
I had and still have low-ish BP so I have passed out on a few occasions and this results in a month where I am required not to drive.
