Hi there,

My 23 year old was diagnosed with brain cancer in August 21, she had an operation to remove as much of the tumour as they could safely do and then completed a six week course of radiotherapy, she’s currently undergoing chemotherapy and Im still finding it so difficult to come to terms with. The last scan showed that it was stable but I’m really struggling to comprehend what has and still is going on. Sorry for the doom and gloom but was wondering is this totally normal and how do you get your head around what is happening?

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your daughter has been diagnosed with brain cancer and, although I had a different type of cancer, I do understand the struggle there can be to understand what is happening both treatment wise and emotionally.

I can see that you've joined the brain cancer group so I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also post there as well as you'll then connect directly with others who are being treated for this type of cancer.

You might also like to think about joining either the carers only group, if you're your daughter's carer, or the family and friends group if you're not. Both groups are safe, supportive places to discuss your worries and emotions with others who have a loved one dealing with cancer.

If you'd like to join either of these groups just click on the link I've created and then join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with any existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your daughter's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
