Hello all,
My dearest sister has been recently diagnosed with stage 4 aggressive cancer, she will have major surgery next Wednesday. I'm looking for advice on what benefits she can claim so it helps towards paying bill etc. I don't want her stressing about money etc whilst having surgery then further treatments.
She’s been on zero contract with her employer for about 3 years now worked and 8 hours a day before but due to health ging downhill she's reduced it to 5 passed few months. Since last week not working at all due to pain.

Hi Ramilla and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but I am sorry to hear about your sisters diagnosis but great that you are looking to help her out.
I would start by calling the Macmillan Support Line that is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits and financial guidance or just a listening ear.
As for the practical and emotional challenges of supporting your sister and indeed yourself you may benefit from joining and posting in our dedicated……
Carers only (if you are her caregiver)
Supporting someone with incurable cancer (if this is applicable)
……. support groups where you will connect with a wide range of members navigating the exact same support challenges.
The Community also has dedicated cancer specific Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) where you can talk with others with the same cancer as your sister and who are on the same treatments……… but you don’t say what type of cancer your sister has……..
