Feeling a bit overwhelmed

Hi, I dare say it's normal, as the partner of a person with cancer, to feel like a bit of an imposter being here. I haven't looked around yet, but I expect that there's a partner/friends/family section,  but I'll just introduce myself here first.

My partner of just a few years has been through all this before, starting 30 or so years ago with mouth cancer. Then he had part of his tongue removed and a graft 11 years ago and the same on the other side this year. He's currently trying to decide whether or not to have radiation treatment and I'm trying my best to be supportive.

  • Hi

Welcome to the community. I am sorry your partner is going through this. You are right, there is a family and friends section. Here is a link for you. Family and friends forum

    I am a Macmillan volunteer.

I have metastatic Triple Negative Breast Cancer, in remission

  • Hi

I feel the same. I've joined as i'm waiting for results about my mum, and I feel like I shouldn't be here.

But i'm going crazy - I need to talk to someone somewhere. It's been three weeks and we were told full diagnosis (type, grade, prognosis, treatment etc) would be given this week. She has a brain tumour with others found in the Pleura and Pancreas. I just want to know what we're up against.

Sending solidarity and glimmers in today to yourself and your partner. x

    • It's all so scary isnt it?
  • Hi

Pop into the Head and Neck Cancer Group too. We have lots of spouses and carers there who know what you are both up against. Just click on the link I made

AND wow! that's a long time to be cancer free for it all to happen again. So sorry!!
