Hello,
I recently started chemotheraphy for me triple negative breast cancer. I am 43.
I have been prescribed 12 weekly sessions. I had 2 so far.
Then another 12 weeks on diffrent drugs and then surgery, then another 6 months of chemo.
I am having a severe rash and doctors stopped my chemo number 3 tomorrow. Apparently this is caused by my immunotherapy.
Can anybody share any experience with rashes and how they treated it and if you mamged to carry on with your treatments?
Hi Agata
i am sorry you are going through this. I have triple negative breast cancer and had a reaction to the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab
If I am understanding this correctly, it will likely be the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab that is causing your rash, not the chemo. The normal treatment plan is to continue with this drug on its own after surgery. Reactions to immunotherapy can be quite hard to deal with, which is why your doctors have paused your treatment. They have probably given you steroid cream, a moisturiser and antihistamines. Maybe also some tablet steroids. Whether you can carry on with immunotherapy will depend on how quickly the rash returns to normal and whether you develop any other reactions to the immunotherapy. It might be they decide to just give you the chemo without immunotherapy.

I have metastatic Triple Negative Breast Cancer, in remission
Hi Coddfish,
Thank you for prompt reply.
I have had the same immunotheraphy drug as you.
They had to give me steroid as strong dosage injection as no response to creams or tablets.
Did you have to stop your immunotheraphy?
They told me today I have to stop it completly as my reaction is very severe, my rash is all over.
How long did you have your treatments now?
Yes I had to stop too. My issue started with an acute kidney injury / nephritis. Steroids did eventually resolve it. This was in 2022. I was on my 6th dose of pembro at the time. If you click on my name you can read my story.
