Hi
My uncle had cancer years ago, nobody gave him the right advice - whether to get treatment or not. This was about 20-25 years ago.
He suffered terribly. He was so active. The cancer used to go in waves through his whole body. He couldn't move when I saw him, he was lying flat in bed.
Horrendous. We obviously should have told him to get any and all of the treatment straight away and that we love him a lot, and told him every day. I miss him a lot. He and my aunty sorted my marriage! He was in India and then he moved to live with his eldest son in Trinidad. He actually asked me to help him, in India, after I was divorced and I was helping my parents, and I thought oh he's got 2 sons so I didn't stay and he pointed out I should do. He was right! I would have gone a bit crazy - I would have checked if this cancer thing went away and if it didn't I would have said perhaps we should go to the dr, and then made sure he did if he delayed it.
Terrible.
I miss him a lot. My aunty and uncle travelled and made us welcome wherever their job took them and we visited. He deserved a lot better. He didn't complain ever. We just talked. Sometimes I think he visits. That's lovely. With my dad. Possibly.
So I'm doing my first coffee morning with Mcmillan tomorrow Saturday 26/9/26 at Sutton Park, the Scouts are doing it. 9-11AM. Have made a small cake to contribute.
