I am a 29 year old woman and I was diagnosed a few weeks ago with a specific type of germ cell cancer called a yolk sac tumor. It is very rare and very aggressive but also super responsive to chemo. I had surgery five weeks ago and 10cm tumor was removed along with my ovary and fallopian tube. Thankfully it was caught early but now I have 2 years with a 50% chance it comes back. I am doing weekly blood tests to monitor my AFP marker which is reassuring. Hopefully it doesnt come back and I will not have to do chemo but it is a little daunting knowing that if one test comes with less than ideal results, I will have to go and do chemo immediately. Happy to have wonderful support groups like this though
