Hi all . And like everyone never thought I would be here . I realise it's early days BUT up until 4 weeks ago I was going about my life / work and enjoying the heatwave. I decided to go for a wellbeing check a young ish fit 62 year old . Went for bloods . Doctor called and said all good BUT elevated psa ( ignorant what that was ) so called me  in and checked  prostate which was an experience  in it's self as I haven't be to doctors for years ! Said it felt fine but arranged mri . By now panic has started to set in . Went for mri which freaked me out ( all new hospital environment that I wasn't used to) then call from urology to arrange pre op for biopsy but no explanation on mri results . Now anxioty hitting the roof !! So waiting to go in next week.  That's my story so far.  AS FOR ME .I'm really struggling and feel like a different person. Can't think straight. Broken sleep waking up clamy. Mind I racing at 100mph . Thinking what about work /future it's awful. I know it's early days but I'm a mess. Petrified of the biopsy and what it will reveal. Petrified of hospitals and white coats I've never experienced this side of me in 62 years and can't seem to think positive about anything unlike my misses who's never seen this side of me in 26 years ( nor me ) . Sorry to ramble but needed to  reach for support and comfort i suppose to people who might help me calm down!! Thank you for listening.  A very bewildered carpenter

  • Hello

A warm welcome to the online Community although I am so sorry to find you joining us. I am Brian one of the Community Champions here at Macmillan and I am also 4.5 years into my personal prostate cancer journey.

The Community is divided up into cancer specific groups and for the support you need I would advise you to join us on the Prostate Cancer group - here's the link you need:

     Prostate cancer forum

Once you click on the link I have provided and the page opens up, click on "join" on the black banner at the bottom of the page. Once you have joined the group you can either copy and paste or repost your post above in the "New here - Say Hello" section of the group - you will be assured of a warm welcome.

A fact to remember is 98% of men with a Prostate Cancer diagnosis die WITH it not OF it!! Another fact if you click on my name or avatar you can read my journey to date.

If you need any help in navigating the Community please do get back to me. I look forward to "meeting" you again on the Prostate group.

(a bit of personal information, last time I was at Fratton Park was Saturday 30 September 2017 when Oldham Athletic won 2-1 in a League One game!!).

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hello

No still in "New to the Community".

If you click on your own name and your home page opens up - you will see a grey block with the words "Prostate Cancer Forum". Click on that and it will take you there.

Once you get to the Prostate Group - click on the +Create New Post in the box top right.

    Best wishes - Brian.
