Hi there, I was diagnosed with bowel cancer 7years ago and have gone through various operations along with chemo and radiotherapy. I Feb this year I was told it had returned again and is stage 4 in prostrate, bladder, pelvic bones and lungs. I have a few more rounds of chemo but it was not making any difference so have stopped all treatment in May and the prognosis was months. Since the treatment stopped I have put weight back on and feel so much better and the only issues I really have to deal with are my stomach which is fine, a catheter which I have had for 6 months and two nephrostomy which are painful and bloody annoying!
Question I have is does anyone out there have the same prognosis and feel better than they have in months as it really is playing games in my head as I feel brilliant and yet I am then doing admin such as my will and making plans for when my number is up.
Is or has anyone had or going through the same as I just can’t get my head around being so well yet being told I won’t be long? What can I expect going forward?
Thanks in advance
Hi Chrise61
I'm sorry to read that after being treated for bowel cancer 7 years ago you've recently discovered that it has returned and spread.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the bowel cancer group, as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you, and also the living with incurable cancer group where you can discuss your feelings of living with an incurable diagnosis.
To join these groups, just click on the links I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
