Has anyone experienced something similar after your family past away?

I’m Trilly, 62 yeras olf, and I’m looking for people who might understand what I’m going through.

I have been a caregiver for my mother, my daughter and my husband, all of whom died of cancer within a relatively short period of time.

Now my only surviving daughter is the only close family I have left. I love her deeply, but she is young and has her own life, and she finds it difficult to spend much time with me.

After so many years of caring for the people I loved, I now find myself alone, and I’m struggling to understand how to build a new life for myself.

I don’t want to put the responsibility for my happiness on my daughter. I just miss having someone close to share everyday life with.

Has anyone here experienced something similar? How did you cope with the loneliness and rebuild your life after so many losses?

I would really appreciate hearing your stories. Heart

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother, daughter and your husband……. you have had such a challenging time.

I have been in my cancer journey fir over 26 years having been treated for 4 cancers, so I know that side of things but as for your challenges I am not equipped to help you out….. but can I make a few suggestions.

The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so you may want to have a look at our……

    Bereaved Spouses and Partners Group

       and

Bereaved Family and Friends Support Group.

……. as you will connect with others who are navigating the same challenges.

Talking to people ‘face to face’ can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community ((hugs))
