My dad was diagnosed last month with stage 4 melanoma mets. Unfortunately due his ither health conditions nothing can be done for him. The nurses are aware but I'm not sure what happens now. Are the Macmillan nurses meant to visit my parents or do we ring them when we/they need support.  Thanks x

  • Hi

Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.

Sorry to hear about your dad it must be difficult to discover that he had cancer on top of the other health issues.

There is quite a lot of informative about macmillan nurses on the main site here. My wife's expereince of a Macmilan nurse has always been during a hospital visit.

You may also be interested in getting a care needs assesment, this is a process done by your local council and you can read more about that on the NHS website.

You might also like to join our Melanoma forum  where there will be people at all stages on that form of cancer and also perhaps our Family and friends forum for support for you too.

    <<hugs>>
