Introducing myself:

My sister had breast cancer surgery a few years ago but now it’s appeared in her liver. She’s just started treatments and is feeling very poorly, sickness and diarrhoea. I live four hours drive away and feel very upset that I can’t be there to soothe her. We have a close and loving relationship and this is making me very aware of how deeply I love her. I feel this much more strongly than the illnesses and deaths of both our parents.

  • Hi

I am sorry your sister’s breast cancer has spread to her liver and that you are finding it hard living some distance away. I think it’s really tough on relatives when circumstances mean they can’t be close and I hope your sister has the support she needs.

I have metastatic breast cancer that spread to my liver and know that treatments come with a shed load of side effects. It’s quite common to suffer with sickness and diarrhoea. Your sister’s oncology team should be able to give her things to help make it easier and it will hopefully settle over time.

If you would like to chat with people who are going through breast cancer then you would be welcome to join our Breast cancer forum   We also have a Secondary breast cancer forum although it’s a bit quiet. Finally a Family and friends forum where people wish to chat with others who have family or friends affected by cancer. This could be cancer of every type, not just breast cancer.
