Hi.

First post.

I suppose I should start with my journey here.

I took the offer of the lung cancer screening back in January and the results showed a small nodule on my left lung so I was invited back for a 2nd scan which showed the nodule had increased in size.  I was sent for a PET scan which identified cancer at the top of my stomach/oesophagus which had spread to the lung and right lobe of my liver.

If I'm perfectly honest none of this has particularly bothered me. My family and friends who know are very surprised how relaxed I am. I find the easiest way to explain it to them is it's not something I can have a discussion or reason with so there's no point getting angry or depressed. That and I'm 63 and I have no idea what I did right to get this far! The only thing that can make me tear up is the total love and care I've received from the NHS in this short space of time. I raise a (room temperature) glass of coke to each and every one of them.Heart

Oh, I have an allotment which gives me immense joy!

Thanks for reading if you got this far. Slight smile

  • Hi  Welcome to the forums although I'm sorry you have found yourself here. I think the feeling of not being phased by a diagnosis can be quite normal, I know I didn't feel anything when I had mine ( different cancer)I described as just being numb. The forums are split into different cancer types and experiences so it's easier to chat with people in the same situation as you. I have put a link below to the cancer type forums so you can post in the one you feel is best for you.

Good luck with your treatment. I'm sure your allotment will keep you busy and active all good things. Sending hugs. Xx
