New to any forum , not been diagnosed but had all the common symptoms for years , I’m 61  and recently had a really bad UTI/ Thrush and 3 courses of antibiotics later I’m still getting whatever thiSee no evilis under control , I didn’t have any idea of this condition until this bad flare up ( despite working in pharmacy See no evil) , I’m waiting on my appointment with gynaecologist to check it out , I was lucky to speak to a doctor on nhs 24 who prescribed everything she could to get me through until my GP could examine me 2 days later and again she agreed that it could be LS . I here because it was like reading my history so I’m hoping to learn more and it was surprising how many men are on here too , it wasn’t the easiest subject to research , I’m glad to be able to find out what treatments and get advice .

  • Hi

Welcome to our community, as one of the men on here I was diagnosed countless times with thrush and sent off to buy some canestan cream quite a few times. Eventually things got so difficult I ened up with a circumcision but that did not fix things and it was only when I saw a locum who diagnosed LS and prescribed topical steroids that I really got relief - it was amazing how fast the treatment produced results.

  • I was surprised to learn that men could be affected by, I’ve been prescribed canestan hc ans an internal moisturiser and it’s helping , just need to wait for gynaecology,I’m a very bad person , I was a pharmacy tech and a huge fan of self medicating and a lot is available over the counter so I was doing pharmacy first and buying fluconazole but no more DIY , I’m really hoping it’s not LS , thank for reaching out ,I’ve not delved properly into all the forum , I’ll do it at night when I can relax , thanks again
