I am about 3/4 through chemo for endometrial cancer and am due to continue straight into radiotherapy after the last chemo cycle. The trouble is, I live alone and have no immediate family nearby. So when the hospital, which is 45 miles away (I am in a rural area), springs a short-notice CT mapping appointment on me, I have no-one available to take me there. No community car drivers are available; the hospital transport turned me down because it was a one-off appointment without enough notice for them and I cannot afford the £150 taxi fare (round trip).
Unfortunately my magic carpet is in for repairs. Has anyone else had any such nonsense from the hospital (why the sudden, urgent appointment? They must have known when I was due to finish the chemo)??
and what did you do about it?
Thanks for any advice.
