worried it is breast cancer

Has anyone had symptoms like mine, 2 weeks ago i woke with a sore breast, 3 days later, it was red and swollen, and i had a hard lump under my nipple and ducts, central, been very painful, been on anitbiotics for 12 days , swelling as gone down, not so red now, lump is still there and a little tender but does not seem as large, waiting to go to breast clinic but very scared, btw i am 57 thanks for any advice

  • Hi   It sounds like you have done the right thing and got referred to the breast clinic. Once you are there you might have a 3D mammogram and ultrasound, and they might take biopsies. The staff are exceedingly skilled at knowing what they are looking at. I have been there 3 times. The first time with lumpy breasts when I was quite young, and the 2nd time in my mid 50s with puffy inflamed skin. Neither of those were cancer and they gave me a clear indication they didn’t expect the biopsy to come back as cancer. The 3 rd time was a mammogram recall, it was cancer and they told me to expect confirmation of that. They will take very good care of you.

  • its really weird as this morning it felt llike the lump had gone,but now it feels like it is back, still a bit painful so i have no idea just so worried

  • I hope your appointment is happening soon. Waiting and worrying is one of the worst stages.
