Hi everyone I’m new here…
I was diagnosed with 90 mm Grade 2 ILC, 1/3 micrometastasis (0.4 mm), ER 9, PR 3, HER-2 negative. ONCOTYPE 9 - breast cancer in 23. Fortunately I did not have to have chemo but had radio therapy and in my 2nd year of adjuvant therapy in the form of an injection every month (zoladex 3.5mg) and was on tamoxifen until October 25… I thought I struggled with tamoxifen because the hot flushes, the sleepless nights along with a list of other symptoms… so I decided to stop taking them… after an 8 week break I was put on Letrozole and I can honestly say the tamoxifen was a doddle in comparison,.. I am really struggling with Letrozole…the hot flushes I can deal with. It’s all the other stuff… the 3 main side effects I am completely struggling with is the depression and anxiety which I have never had before, the joint pain which I’ve never had before and constantly feeling exhausted… I stopped the medication last week and I am feeling so much better… I know I should consult my oncologist which I will do but I really do not want to continue taking the meds… Apart from the obvious does anyone have any advice… Ty
Hi RiRi23 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I had breast cancer I haven't had the drugs you're taking.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you and may have experienced similar problems.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
