My husband was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in January and very quickly has gone downhill.  How can I help him?

  • Hi

a very warm welcome to the online community, but I am sorry to hear about your husband. My name is Chelle and I am an online community champ for the Lung cancer forum . The community is made up of individual forums, and in the lung group you will find people from all stages of lung cancer diagnosis as well as people supporting loved ones with cancer. If you click on the link I have created, it will take you to the group where you can join and ask your question there. It would be helpful if you could say what treatment your husband is having and how he is coping. You say he has gone downhill, I am sorry that he is struggling and I know how hard this must be for you. You can also look to join the Carers only forum  and the Family and friends forum  where you can connect with other members who are supporting loved ones.

The MacMillan support line is also available for you to call and chat 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm on 0808 808 00 00.

I look forward to welcoming you to the lung group.

  • Hello again.  The cancer has metastasised to his spine (treated recently with radiotherapy) and various other places and he is now having immunotherapy.   He's suffering with nausea which doesn't seem to be touched by 3 different anti nausea drugs so he just lies in bed or on the sofa and his muscles are just wasting away.  I am finding it difficult to encourage him to exercise/drink water because he just shouts at me for nagging.  I feel like giving up as I think he has.
