Husband  adhering strictly to dietary advice, drinking etc. However, each time he goes in for treatment he is sent out because he has gas.  Tried windeze, eating regular small meals and using prescribed enema but still not able to have his treatment on the first attempt.  This is causing him some concern.  Speaking to another patient who has advised using an anal enema douche instead of the prescribed enema, which is working for him because he too has struggled with too much gas. Would like to know if anyone else has used this and also the safety of using them.

  • Hello

A warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community although I am so sorry to find you joining us. I am Brian, one of the Community Champions here on the Community and indeed am on the 4th year of my personal Prostate cancer journey.

The community is divided up into cancer specific groups and I would advise you to join us on the Prostate Cancer group - here's the link you need:

    Prostate cancer forum

Once you click on the link i have provided and the page opens up, click on "join" on the black banner at the bottom of the page. Once you have joined our little band of brothers and sisters you can either copy and paste or repost your post above in the "New Here - Say Hello" section - I can assure you of plenty of replies.

I don't think the enema is the issue here. He needs to eat his food slowly, (to avoid wind building up) and avoid green leaf vegetables, beans, pulses, alcohol, coffee and fizzy drinks. A decent brisk walk can also help.

Join our group, stick your post up on the group and see what others say.

I look forward to "meeting" you again on the Prostate group.

    Best wishes - Brian.
