Hi all, first postGrin

Just finished radiotherapy for prostate cancer, still on hormone therapy, and seeing my consultant in 4 weeks time. Fairly confident, as cancer had not come out of the prostate, and last psa I had before radiotherapy was nearly zero following 3 months of hormone therapy.

Dont know if anybody else has had a problem with receiving monies from their local nhs trust after claiming for fuel costs with a frequent traveller self drive travel claim?

I put my claims in and 2 weeks gone since I should have received the first payment.

Had lots of communication with the finance assistant via email and phone, and was given reasons for delays and reassurance on getting it soon.

Promised yesterday, and nothing transferred, and now being ‘ghosted’

I think theres been a mess up in the finance dept. but after being off work since last December, things are getting tight, and I could do with the monies, and dont need the stress.

I’m in Cornwall, anybody else experience this issue?

Thanks, Jim

  • Hello Jim (

A warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community, although I am so sorry to find you joining us, I am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the Community - I am also in the 4th year of my personal Prostate Cancer journey.

I haven't come across your issue before - I would advise you to give the PALS (Patient Advisory and Liaison Service) at your hospital a call to see if they can speed up the process. It's possible others may have had the same issue but not posted anything about the problem.

The Community is divided into cancer specific groups so you may well wish to join us on the Prostate Group - the link you need is here:

Once you click on the link and the page opens up, click on the black banner at the bottom of the page. Once you have joined us you can introduce yourself in the "New Here - Say Hello" section. You can either copy and paste or repost the post above, I can assure you of a warm welcome.

I hope the above helps and look forward to "meeting" you again on our group.

    Best wishes- Brian.
