My husband was diagnosed last week with cancer of the larynx after having an op and being told no cancer cells and the surgeon saying i think it's benign. I work full time so does he i don't know how we'll manage when he stops work he starts radio therapy in April. We won't be entitled to any help in so worried about everything
Hi Karcher
Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.
Sorry to hear about your husband, it must be difficult having been told things looked benign and then getting the diagnosis, though I can certainly relate in some ways given the amount of time it took the doctors to eventually diagnose my wife.
Is your husband giving up work or is he going on sick leave - or perhaps he is self employed. You have some rights as work as a carer too and it can be worth speaking to your employer who I hope will give you support.
There are quite a few benefits people can tap in to and it may well be worthwhile talking to a benefits adviser to see if there is anything you might get. It is certaintly worthwhile asking as a worst they can only say no. The benefits advisers are available 8am - 6pm Monday for Friday on 0800 808 0000.
<<hugs>>
Steve
