Good morning
I have recently had surgery for lung cancer, which was successful. I have now been advised to have a short, mild course of chemotherapy followed by 12 months of immunotherapy. I didn't have any symptoms prior to surgery and feel well now. I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has had this treatment and how they found the side effects. I am 79 years old and as I feel healthy at the moment am undecided whether to proceed. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Joane a very warm welcome to the community, but I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. My name is Chelle, and I am a community champ for the Lung cancer forum
If you click on the link I have added, it will take you to the lung group where you can meet several people who are in a similar situation to yourself.
Deciding on whether to have treatment or not is never easy. Yes it will make you feel unwell for a while, but it can make such a difference to the long term outlook. You are closely monitored, and you can stop treatment at any time if you feel it is too much. Immunotherapy plays such a large part in lung cancer treatment now, and many people are able to tolerate it very well.
I look forward to welcoming you to the Lung cancer forum where I am sure other members will be able to share their experience with you.
