Breast Cancer diagnosis after 14y years clear

Hi I'm New to the community.

Had my diagnosis Tuesday this week, after having DCIS, left breast mastectomy with implant and right side reduction 14 years ago I now have a cancerous mass in my right breast.

Waiting for surgery date for lumpectomy and mastoplexy with radiotherapy.

Obviously this is dependent on my surgeon removing all of the mass, otherwise more surgery and treatment.

T️o say I went in to shock is an understatement. Really did think I had been through it all once and come out the other end, nieve or what !!!

I think the radiotherapy terrifies me more than the surgery. I lost my mom May last year so am living alone and was only just getting used to life as it is now.

One minute I'm sitting alone in shock, filled with anxiety and fear, the next balling my eyes out.

Everyone tells me I must be positive and strong and I do know that but I'm just trying to process whilst feeling like I'm wading through a thick fog.

How do you get past the fear, do you ever get past the fear?

I really want to have a positive approach to this but it's so hard.

I am so sorry to read you are going through this. You are a strong woman and my mum went through similar (many) years ago and was told at the time she had a 1% chance of survival! I think bedside care has improved since then but even with those odds, she still said you have to think and beat it is your head - positive mental attitude. I suppose it's the old way of the new trend of "manifesting"!

There will be dark times when your mind tries to drag you there. I did my first reiki session last week and she said "think of those dark thoughts as a leaf on a stream, you have acknowledged it, but it is floating down the stream away from you". I think it helps your mind come back to the good and not linger in the dark for too long.
