prostate cancer - surgery or radiotherapy?

Hi everyone - i was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few months ago - i have started hormone therapy. I need to decide between surgery or radiotherapy. I have factor 7 deficiency and also I may need an intervention on my foot. Plus I have heard that post surgery i will need a catheter - hence i'm leaning towards radiotherapy but have been informed surgery is more thorough and accurate not to mention the 1% risk of cancer from radiotherapy - thoughts please?

  • Good afternoon.

The result of my MRI scan is 4, received today.

I am booked for a biopsy on Monday morning.

    Should I be worried?

  • Hello

Welcome to the Macmillan Online Community - although I am so sorry to find you joining us.

A PIRADS 4 score from an MRI simply says they have had a good view of the prostate on the MRI scan and a biopsy is needed to confirm if the scan results are to be confirmed as cancer.

Details of the prostate biopsy are here:

    Trans-perineal-biopsy.

Why not join us on the Prostate Group here - here's the link you need:
