My mum has been diagnosed with bladder cancer. It’s spread to her pelvic bone.
She became ill in November and went into hospital in January. She was told by London hospital that there’s nothing more they can do, due to her age and being frail. She’s now in a nursing care home.
My problem is, she don’t look ill. She can’t walk now and her urine has blood in it, with backache too. We are told she has less than yr to live. I think she’s fine. think I might be in denial.
How do I come to terms with it? What am I expected to look out for to know she not gonna get better. Never had to deal with cancer before.
Thank you for reading.
Hi Blackcat
Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.
I am Steve one of the community champions and my expereince of cancer is via my wife who has Leiomyosarcoma.
Sorry to hear about your mum, it can be difficult to really know how someone is and we often see people looking for signs but in practice it can be very hard to know even for medical specialists.
Our New to the Community forum is something like a welcome mat to the community while most of the people on here follow either cancer type or expereince forums. You might like to look at and possible join either our Family and friends forum or Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum
Something I found quite helpful is looking at your feelings when someone has cancer,as being able to recognize these emotions and accept them as part of our new normal I find helps to make them less overwhelming.
<<hugs>>
Steve
