Exercise Plan - in prep for Hormone & Radio Therapy

Hi, I'm new on this forum.

my Prostate Cancer summary is in my biography but  briefly; diagnosed Spring 24, robotic Surgery Sept 24, Nov 2024 PSA 0.2 and then PSMA scan Dec 2024 identified need for further treatment to address residual cancer in Prostate bed.

Just completed my 21 day course of Bicalutamide tablets and have had 1 of my 3 monthly jabs. Whilst I have no side effects so far but reading through the vast fountain of knowledge on this forum, i can see the side effects this time round can range from nothing to hot flushes, muscle waste, fatigue etc so I am looking to establish an exercise plan to help prepare for what's round the corner and minimise the impact of any side effects.

So my question to this forum does anyone have a fitness plan they can share or recommend resources from which one can be developed?

Currently average over 14,000 steps a day through dog walking and golf but clearly need a more complete exercise plan.

Thanks in advance Thumbsup

  • Hello Scott (

I am sorry to find you joining us - especially after surgery - the last thing you need is Hormone Therapy and Radiotherapy.

I am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the online Community. I see you have already joined us on the Prostate Group - why not add a post on the group in the "New Here - Say Hello" section - you will get plenty of replies.

Personally - yes I have had over 3 years on Hormone Therapy, we don't get all of the side effects, some don't  get any - advice - keep fit, keep up the muscle strength and exercise as much as possible. As HT can weaken your bone structure make sure you have a prescription for Calcium and Vitamin D tablets. Apart from that I look forward to you posting on our group.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi

I would defo start strength training, obviously good for your muscles but also bone density. If finances allow i would find a good pt to do you a program to follow at the very least and if poss at least a couple of sessions with them so you get techniques right. X
