My beautiful boy Andrew passed away aged 33 on Tuesday after an 18 month battle with cancer. He had his whole life ahead of him with a beautiful wife and a gorgeous little boy who is only 19 months old. I am so angry and so heartbroken and so swallowed up in grief I don’t know how to cope

  • Hello MobysMum,

I don't know what to say other than - I'm so sorry for your loss.  33 is no age at all.  It's raw and very hard for you now, but in time, remember him for who he was and be proud of him.  It's absolutely normal to feel angry.    Talking to family and friends is fine, but I could only really express my anger when talking to someone neither of us knew, so maybe that might help you?  I hope you find what works for you, but try to be kind to yourself.   Allow yourself to grieve and in time, you can tell your young grandson all about his daddy and remember the good times.  Please take care, you are not alone x

  • Hi   and welcome to the Macmillan Community but I am ever so sorry to hear about your son, my heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

A death in the family like this can be such a challenging and stressful time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' journey will help you a lot.

The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms), you may benefit from joining and posting in our dedicated……

Bereaved Family and Friends Support Group.

……. support group where you will connect with a wide range of members navigating the exact same challenges.

To connect with a group click on the “Bold Links” I have created above …… then once the group page opens click in the [Black - Click to Join - Banner] that appears at the bottom of the page and this will then confirm that you have joined the group.

When you are ready……. you can introduce yourself by putting up your very own post by clicking [+ Create new post] or [+] in the top right of the group page.

You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.

The Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides practical information, emotional support, financial guidance or just a listening ear.

Talking to people ‘face to face’ can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community ((hugs))
