Hi new to the group been diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer I start chemo months 2nd Feb just wandered if anyone has used cold cap and what are their experiences and would you recommend using it.

  • Hi Jam,

I'm currently having chemotherapy and about to have another session this week; I've been having the cold cap and after 3 previous chemo sessions wearing the cold cap, I still have a head of hair. Much less hair than before the chemo started, but still enough to not look weird. I'll have the cold cap again this week just because I've managed it this far so may as well persevere. If you really want to keep your hair I'd say it's worth the discomfort. I suffer badly from feeling cold almost all of the time, so for me, the cold cap treatment is actually the worst part of having chemo. It is very, very cold. The other downside is that it adds about an hour and a half to the overall treatment duration.

I hope this helps and wish you all the best.

  • Thank you that helps a lot hope all is well so far for you going through this I'm dreading it
