Hi I’m new here. I recently had my usual smear test done and I had high risk hpv , no cytology. Sent away for 12 months recall. Now had the recall and have high risk hpv still and cytology changes to squamous cells and a referral for gynae colposcopy but it’s still 4 weeks away.
no doctor has spoken to me regarding this and the information I have is what is showing on the nhs app. No person has spoken to me about my results and there is no appointment made to do so

read the information on New Year’s Day as it was uploaded to my account and a message with the gynae letter attached.
I’ve been scared ever since because I have 5 children, 1 grandchild and I’m alone. I don’t have a partner to support me or share the load.
how do I tell me kids? Do I tell my kids? Do I wait to see what gynae say? I literally am alone facing this.
I also have zero family history as was adopted at birth

oh and my dad is 80 years old so I don’t want discuss it with him in case I kill him with worry!

  • Hi  and welcome to the community.

It’s a worrying time for you when you’re told there are cell changes but you haven’t had any more information. I’d like to recommend that you join us in the cervical cancer group-not because I think you have cancer, but because it’s the best place to discuss this and share your worries.

This link will take you directly to the group, and if you join us you’d be able to re post your questions there and introduce yourself. just click on the link and press “join group”.
