Hi Lou7 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I've had different cancer diagnoses to your husband I know how difficult a cancer diagnosis is for the whole family.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the bile duct cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as your husband. They'll be able to share their experiences with treatment and give you hints and tips on eating.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have some time, it would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Husband had first oncology appt today to start chemotherapy in a couple of weeks cebitapone ( wrong spelling) for bile duct cancer only found out today had 9 lymph nodes removed cancer was in one of them and due to position of the cancer unable to get a clear margin don’t know what to think. Don’t know what to expect with the chemo and worried as husband still recovering from the whipples procedure - anyone else with any advice would be greatly appreciated
Hi Lou7
It must be a very worrying time for you right now so please do join the bile cancer group, which I mentioned in my previous reply to you, as you'll then connect with people who can share their experiences with you.
If you have any problems finding your way around just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help.
HI
I am in the dark the same as you and having chemo at the moment.I wanted to ask what is whipples procedure.
Hi there sorry you are in this position- the whipples procedure removes your bile duct gall bladder and part of your intestines then parts are rejoined. It is very tough surgery my husband still recovering and had it Nov 2025
