Does anyone have any suggestions for travel insurance? We are talking about recently diagnosed terminal pancreatic cancer . We have been told the prognosis is 3 - 6 months without treatment and 6 - 12 months with treatment.it seems like a lot iof insurance companies won't insure you if you have less than 6 month after your trip. The problem is, we haven't had the biopsy results yet, meant to get them on the 30th Jan and the the meeting to plan what to do could be 2-3 weeks after that (I actually can't believe it is taking this long IF there are potentially only 3 months left!) When i tell the insurance companies this they say there is nothing they can do. We just want to book a week to Italy on the 3rd of Feb, While we are still fairy able, but it looks unlikely, any suggestions would be welcomed.
Hi, I'm Tony one of the Community Champions, yes I'm afraid you may well have problems with no actual results being revieved, I'm sorry for ll us Cancer Patients and it and Holiday Insurance, I found that Insurewith were helpful in my situation, obviously I can't confirm anything for yours
What I do advise that you speak with any possble companies rather that online quotes as most questions online do not cover the many aspects of Cancer or treatment

Best of luck and take care both of your,
Tony

Hello CTWOB,
I'm very sorry to hear of your situation and struggle to find travel insurance for the trip you so much want to take.
I'm afraid that, from what you describe, it's unlikely you will get cover from any insurer until results are available and a treatment plan is in place.
The only thing I can suggest (if you haven't already done so - in which case ignore my ramblings) is to try albert & eddie. This is a comparison site owned by the same group that owns Insurancewith and Holidaysafe which are travel insurers who specialise in medical conditions including cancer. They do use a different, more user friendly underwriting question set from most others, particularly for "terminal" or incurable cases which I found useful for my own circumstances (I have a policy with Holidaysafe).
Given your circumstances I'd be inclined to go online for a quote to determine whether they'll provide one, if only because It will save time and the hassle of talking through it all on the 'phone again. If you do get a quote from them you can firm it up over the 'phone if you wish.
It's long shot but you never know. Alternatively when get to a position when the consultants eventually produce a treatment plan with a prognosis exceeding 6 months it could well be possible to get cover then and make your trip.
I'm sorry I can't suggest anything more positive based on what you've described and my own experience.
Derek.
