  1. Hi this is my first post although I became a member when my late husband was undergoing treatment for bowel cancer. He lost his battle twenty two months ago but I am now facing the possibility of cancer myself. I am five years post menopause and just before Christmas started passing blood, everything has happened quickly and after an initial consultation with my GP who immediately put me on the two week pathway I have had an ultrasound, hysteroscopy and biopsy for a suspicious area of my womb lining. The consultant has told me she is concerned and has asked for a MRI already as well as requested urgent histology of the biopsy. I know there are still non cancerous possibilities but the immediate request for an MRI has me expecting the worst and my head is in overdrive. Having already traveled this journey with the worst outcome with my husband I am extremely anxious and am hoping I can find some moral support here.
  • Hello there. I'm sure you will get support on this site. It might also be worth joining the womb cancer forum to get more specialist responses. As you have been through the cancer journey as a partner, you will have a lot of knowledge though, of course, no two cancer journeys are the same. I think the place you are in right now, of not knowing for sure but feeling sure, is one of the hardest. Once you have facts, you will be able to start addressing what lies ahead in the immediate future. You need a holding strategy to get to that point, which means getting through the mri results consultation. Until then, everything is provisional. I try not to second guess anything to do with cancer but wait till the facts are presented. Easier said than done I know. I hope you don't have to wait too long.

  • I understand how alone and frightened you must be feeling. While it's good things are moving quickly it must also feel worrying. It is hard to keep the positive options in mind but just try and focus on them. Distractions don't work all the time but I'm in a similar situation and have never done so many puzzles and breathing exercises and they do help. I hope you get some positive answers soon.
